How to consume Biogrow® Oat BG22®?

For optimal results, take at least 2 scoops / sachets daily before meals, 1 scoop / sachet before breakfast and 1 scoop / sachet before dinner, or anytime convenient.

Mix 1 scoop / sachet with plain, cold or warm water, fruit juices, soymilk or sprinkle onto cereal, salad, gravies and soups.
*DO NOT mix powder with hot water!

Can Biogrow® Oat BG22® be mixed with hot water?

We do not recommend mixing Biogrow® Oat BG22® with hot water. Due to the high fiber (soluble & insoluble) content in Biogrow® Oat BG22®, the powder will turn viscous almost instantly if it is mixed with hot water and makes it difficult to drink.

*Always mix the powder with room temperature, cold or warm drinks

Can Biogrow® Oat BG22® be taken 2 scoops at once instead of 1 scoop twice a day?

Yes. Either way the effect will be the same as long as you take 2 scoops / sachets a day before meals to obtain the recommended 3g oat beta-glucan for optimal cholesterol-lowering effect.

What is the reason to consume Biogrow® Oat BG22® 20 to 30 minutes before meal?

By taking 20 to 30 minutes before meal can ensure a better transit of oat fiber (oat beta-glucan) in the gut without the interference from food. In addition, it can help in weight management as oat beta-glucan (soluble fiber) forms a thick, viscous gel in the stomach and gut which stimulate the sensation of fullness, prolong the time of stomach emptying and help limit appetite.

Can Biogrow® Oat BG22® be taken with other health supplements at the same time?

Due to the high fiber content in Biogrow® Oat BG22®, it will slow down the overall digestion in our stomach. In order to get the full health benefits from each food / health supplements, it is recommended to space doses of different supplements 30 minutes – 1 hour apart.

Is it normal if I have frequent bowel movement after taking Biogrow® Oat BG22®?

It is normal to have frequent bowel movement after consuming Biogrow® Oat BG22® due to the high fiber content. Each serving (≈ 9g) contains 35% or 3.1g of total fibers which helps increase fecal bulk and promotes bowel movement. However, the condition will improve once the body adapts to the high fiber diet.

How does Biogrow® Oat BG22® lower cholesterol effectively?

Oat beta-glucan (soluble fiber) from Biogrow® Oat BG22® produces a cholesterol-lowering effect due to its high viscosity. It dissolves inside the digestive tract where it forms a thick gel in the small intestine. This viscous “net” traps cholesterol and cholesterol-related particles (fats, bile acids) & prevents them from being absorbed into the bloodstream. They are then passed, harmlessly, out of the body. This results in a reduction in circulating LDL / bad cholesterol levels.

How does Biogrow® Oat BG22® regulate blood glucose level?

Oat beta-glucan (soluble fiber) from Biogrow® Oat BG22® dissolves inside the digestive tract and form a think gel in the gut area, thus it slows down the stomach emptying and delays the uptake of glucose from the small intestines. These effects result in lower blood glucose and insulin concentrations after a meal. Therefore, stabilised post-meal glucose and improved insulin response can be achieved.

Does Biogrow® Oat BG22® provide other health benefits apart from cholesterol-lowering and blood glucose-regulating?

Yes. By taking Biogrow® Oat BG22® before a meal, oat beta-glucan from Biogrow® Oat BG22® will form a thick and viscous gel in the stomach and gut which stimulates the sensation of fullness and helps limit appetite. The satiety effect reduces the desire for more food intake, helping to control weight naturally, when combined with a balanced diet and regular exercise. However, Biogrow® Oat BG22® should not be treated as a meal replacement and it is still necessary to take your normal meal but in smaller portion for a balanced healthy diet.

In addition, Biogrow® Oat BG22® is a rich source of dietary fiber (soluble & insoluble fibers) and high fiber intake has been associated with bowel regularity and improved bowel function.

Will the viscous gel produced by oat beta-glucan (soluble fiber) also prevent the absorption of other nutrients from food?

No. The viscous gel produced by oat beta-glucan entraps cholesterol & cholesterol-related particles only (e.g. fats & bile aids), the oat beta-glucan are then passed, harmlessly, out of the body. Glucose, vitamins, minerals & etc. will pass through the gel slowly and gradually being absorbed into the bloodstream.

Can individual with high blood uric acid take Biogrow® Oat BG22®?

Uric acid is produced during the breakdown of purines. Purines can be found in certain foods and also formed by our body as a by-product of protein. Biogrow® Oat BG22® is fully made of oat bran, a plant-based protein source. Several studies had shown that plant-based protein such as oat bran will not increase the level of uric acid and the risk of gout.

Is oat beta-glucan a type of gluten?

Oat beta-glucan is a type of soluble fiber commonly found in oats. The oat beta-glucan in Biogrow® Oat BG22® has been extensively studied for its cholesterol-lowering & blood glucose-regulating benefits. According to MOH Malaysia & EFSA, 3g of oat beta-glucan daily can help reduce cholesterol. Consumption of beta-glucan from oats also contributes to the reduction of glucose rise after a meal.

Gluten on the other hand, is a protein composite found in foods processed from wheat and related grain species such as barley and rye. It is a common allergen which might cause adverse allergic response to some individuals who have gluten-sensitivity.

Is Biogrow® Oat BG22® suitable for pregnant women?

Biogrow® Oat BG22® is made of 100% oat bran powder with no artificial ingredients and it is generally recognized as safe (GRAS). It is suitable for all including pregnant women. However, if you still have any doubt, it is best that you consult your gynaecologist before consuming this product.

Can pre-diabetic and diabetic patients consume Biogrow® Oat BG22®?

Yes, Biogrow® Oat BG22® contains no added sugar and it is suitable for pre-diabetic and diabetic patients as it is laboratory-tested low in glycemic index (GI <55) and low in glycemic load (GL). According to MOH Malaysia & EFSA, consumption of beta-glucan from oats contributes to the reduction of glucose rise after a meal. The oat-beta-glucan in Biogrow® Oat BG22® can help to slow down the stomach emptying and delay the uptake of glucose from small intestines which results in lower blood glucose level after a meal.
